The Religious and Academic Role of Maulana Miyan Saadullah Kaka Khel in the Promotion of Islamic Sciences: A Research and Historical Study

Abstract

This research paper critically evaluates the religious and academic contributions of Maulana Mian Saadullah Kakakhel to the promotion of Islamic sciences, addressing a significant void in contemporary Islamic historiography. Despite the profound depth and transformative impact of his scholarly endeavors, Maulana Kakakhel’s legacy remains largely obscured, with very limited recognition among modern researchers and the wider academic community. This study employs a qualitative and analytical approach to systematically unearth his invaluable pedagogical methodologies, written treatises, and institutional reforms, aiming to bring his overlooked achievements to the forefront of mainstream Islamic scholarship. The investigation highlights that several of his rare manuscripts and classical writings possess immense intellectual value yet urgently require rigorous, high-level academic research and critical editing. By analyzing contextual historical accounts and surviving textual records, this paper demonstrates how his structured approach to teaching the Quran, Hadith, and Islamic jurisprudence effectively bridged traditional orthodoxy with societal reformation. Ultimately, this research serves as a foundational effort to rescue his intellectual heritage from obscurity, asserting that a revival of interest in his works is essential for a comprehensive understanding of regional socio-religious dynamics. This paper concludes with a strong call to action for contemporary scholars to engage in dedicated textual criticism of his undocumented books to enrich modern Islamic academic literature.
