The Military Role of early Muslim Women in Islamic Conquests and Contemporary Imperatives

Abstract

By the study of history pages, it is clear that most of Muslim women participated in various ways in invasions, battles and wars. Although Jihad was not made obligatory on women, but according to the need of circumstances much wisdom were hidden behind the permission of Holy Prophet (PBUH). As the reasons, behind this permission were to encourage women, to respect women's passion for religious service as well as to establish and sustain social peace and order. Therefore, Muslim women participated in different wars and performed different types of services. Rather, sometimes according to the conditions and needs, women showed their exemplary skills in the battle field. Therefore, it will not be out of place to say that the spirit and role of these Muslim women in the conquests of Islam was unparalleled in the early history of Islam, they acted with great bravery and perseverance and their role is a prominent part of Islamic history.
